Rejection - Laetitia van Schalkwyk
Nobody likes to feel rejected; to
feel the pain of being excluded.
The word rejection became popular
in psychology in 1931, when parental rejection was seen as a motivation of bad behaviour
in children.
The Latin word for rejection, which
is the ancestor of the word rejection, means “to throw back”.
Rejection can come in many forms:
Divorce: Maybe your spouse decided to stop loving you;
exchange you for someone else.
Job application: Maybe you have sent you resumé to
several employers without any success.
Maybe your children rejected you,
don’t make any contact with you, forgot about you.
Maybe you parents rejected you.
Abuse is also rejection.
Maybe you’re in laws don’t accept
you as your spouse’s husband or wife.
Have you ever experienced rejection?
Have you ever experienced the pain of being excluded?
My
passion is assisting and mentoring people in spiritual growth.
Like everyone else, I have
experienced extreme rejection in life, but instead of getting stuck in my
story, I use my pain, my process, knowledge, victories, and journey as keys to
unlock doors and help others who are going through similar experiences.
If this, is you today, and you
are experiencing rejection, I am inviting you to meditate on this:
Psalm 1:1-2 in the Passion
Translation reads:
“His passion is to remain true to
the Word of “I AM” meditating day and night on the true revelation of light. He
will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply
rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of life. He is
never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.”
Find yourself a quiet spot. It can be anywhere, inside, or outside. As long as it is a place where you feel safe and then meditate on Mathew 5.
Jesus says:
This is how we bring heaven to
earth. We inhale what is in heaven and we exhale heaven into our natural world.
Inhale happiness, as it is in
heaven let it be on earth, exhale happiness.
“What delight comes to you when
you wait upon the Lord! For you will find what you long for."
Inhale delight, as it is in
heaven let it be on earth, exhale delight.
“What blessing comes to you when
gentleness lives in you! For you will inherit the earth."
Inhale gentleness, exhale
gentleness.
“How enriched you are when you
crave righteousness! For you will be satisfied."
Inhale righteousness, exhale
righteousness.
“How blessed you are when you
demonstrate tender mercy! For tender mercy will be demonstrated to you".
Inhale tender mercy, exhale
tender mercy.
“What bliss you experience when
your heart is pure! For then your eyes will open to see more and more of God."
Inhale purity of heart, exhale
purity of heart.
“How joyful you are when you make
peace! For then you will be recognized as a true child of God."
Inhale peace, exhale peace.
“How enriched you are when
persecuted for doing what is right! For then you experience the realm of
heaven’s kingdom."
“How blessed you are when people
insult and persecute you and speak all kinds of cruel lies about you because of
your love for me! So, leap for joy—since your heavenly reward is great. For you
are being rejected the same way the prophets were before you."
“Your lives are like salt among
the people. But if you, like salt, become bland, how can your ‘saltiness’ be
restored? Flavourless salt is good for nothing and will be thrown out and
trampled on by others."
“Your lives light up the world.
For how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop? And who would light a lamp and then hide it
in an obscure place? Instead, it’s
placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light. So don’t hide
your light! Let it shine brightly before
others, so that your commendable works will shine as light upon them, and then
they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.”
Inhale ‘saltiness’, and exhale ‘saltiness’
Imagine yourself, a city on a hill, now draw the light that is in heaven into your natural and exhale that light into the world.
I am encouraging you to raise above rejection, do this often, meditate day and night, inhale from heaven, exhale unto earth and then use your pain to go into heaven, draw from whatever you need and then use that energy to create something beautiful and worthy on earth.
Shine your light! Don’t allow
rejection to distract you from fulfilling your purpose on earth.
