Don't look back

Don’t look back

As we move from one year into another we tend to look back and meditate on the past.  I received a message from someone this morning, with which I haven’t had contact for quite some time.  The message read:

“Good morning. Thank you for all that you have done for me and my ministry.  May God bless you abundantly”.

Immediately I was drawn into the past which filled me with a sense of sadness.  I simply closed my eyes, went into myself and saw myself standing in front of the Lord, with “sadness” in my hands and asked Him:

“What do I do with this?”

He answered me:  “Draw near to me and I will draw near to you”.
  (James 4:8)

“Always come back to me, your First Love”.
 (Revelation 2:1-7)

“Do not remember the former things of old, nor consider the things of old.  Look I am doing a new thing”.
  (Isaiah 43:18-19)

“Do not meditate on the ‘good old days’.  Do not say: ‘Why were the former days better than these?’ For you do not inquire wisely concerning this”.
  (Ecclesiastes 7:10)

“Did not My Spirit lead you out?  Did you not say:  ‘Lord, I have lost my peace and my joy’?”
 (Galatians 5:16-26)

“The Israelites also tend to look back, longing for Egypt, the moment they faced some challenges, although they were in slavery”.

“Remember Lot’s wife”.  (Luke 17:32). “Look what happened when she looked back.  She turned into a pillar of salt.  If you keep on looking back to what lies behind, I can’t move you forward.  Lots wife looked back to the world instead of forwards to My plan for her life”.
   (Genesis 19:26)

“No one who puts a hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the service in the Kingdom of God”.
(Luke 9:62)

“You can ask any farmer.  When you sit on a tractor, ploughing, you have to look forward.  The moment you look back you plough skew”.

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.  Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it”.
  (Matthew 7:13-14)

“Forget those things that are behind and reach forward to those things that are ahead”.
  (Philippians 3:13)

While still in the presence of God, I replied with a spirit of Love (because that is Who God is):

"Thank you for blessing me.  Thank you for all the ministry opportunities you gave me, taking me with you wherever you went.  Bless you".

Blessings
